Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: March 10, 2026

MuddleMend is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for everyone, including people with ADHD, learning disabilities, visual impairments, motor difficulties, and other disabilities. We continually work to improve the accessibility and usability of our website.

Conformance Standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities.

Accessibility Features

This website includes the following accessibility features:

  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard, including a skip-to-content link on every page.
  • Dark mode: Automatic detection of your system preference, plus a manual toggle in the header and footer. Dark mode uses carefully chosen colours to reduce visual strain without pure black backgrounds.
  • Colour contrast: All text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
  • Reduced motion: Animations and transitions are disabled when your system's "reduce motion" preference is enabled.
  • Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and ARIA labels throughout the site.
  • Descriptive alt text: All images include meaningful alternative text.
  • Responsive design: Content adapts to different screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Focus indicators: Visible focus outlines on all interactive elements for keyboard and assistive technology users.
  • Plain language: Content is written in clear, straightforward language, avoiding jargon where possible.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:

  • Third-party content: Some embedded content from third-party services (such as Substack and Gumroad) may not fully meet our accessibility standards.
  • PDF guides: Downloadable guides may have limited accessibility features. We are working to improve these over time.

Feedback

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of MuddleMend. If you encounter any barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us at hello@muddlemend.com. We aim to respond within 5 business days.

Compatibility

This website is designed to be compatible with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and assistive technologies including screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS) and voice recognition software.

Assessment Approach

MuddleMend assesses the accessibility of this website through manual testing with keyboard navigation and screen readers, automated testing tools, and ongoing review of colour contrast ratios against WCAG 2.2 AA requirements.
